Jacob Shane

Jacob (Jake) Shane, Ph.D.

His research examines how motivation, opportunity, and constraints direct and reflect development across the adult lifespan. He is particularly interested in the processes through which individuals select, pursue, and adjust goals across adulthood, and in how structural conditions shape those processes. His expertise spans lifespan development, motivation and goal pursuit, work and career development, social mobility and inequality, social relationships, and health and well-being.

Jacob Shane holds a Ph.D. from UC Irvine (2014), an MSc from Keele University (2007), and a BA from the University of Colorado, Boulder (2002).
