Undergraduate Research Assistant
Time Commitment: 10–15 hours/week
Undergraduate students at Brooklyn College are welcome to join the lab. You'll get hands-on experience conducting research in adult development and motivation. Prior research experience is not required, but genuine interest in the work we do is helpful. Students may earn course credit through the PSYC 200x series or 500x series, and may work toward an honors thesis through the 500x series.
Master's Student (MA/MS)
Program: Psychology MA or MS
Current and prospective Brooklyn College or CUNY master's students are welcome to reach out to Dr. Shane to discuss joining the lab. Master's students typically work in the lab for two years, developing their own research projects while contributing to ongoing lab work.
Doctoral Student (Ph.D.)
Program: CUNY Graduate Center Psychology Doctoral Program
Prospective Ph.D. students interested in lifespan developmental psychology or motivation and goal pursuit are encouraged to apply to the CUNY Graduate Center through the Developmental Psychology training area and list Dr. Shane as a faculty interest. Students applying through the Cognitive and Comparative Psychology training area are also welcome to reach out. Ph.D. students in the lab develop an independent research agenda within the lab's broad framework, lead multiple studies, and prepare for careers in academic or applied research.
